Also, if you're curious as to what I've been doing with a lot of my spare time check out http://listography.com/thegoodship for all the movies I've seen and books I've read since the beginning of 2009. I'm actually kind of impressed with myself for already having read almost 20 books.

Also, a while back I talked about establishing a more formal presence on the internet. Unfortunately, since I have no idea how the internet actually works, all I've produced so far is http://thegoodshipproject.com/blog. I think as a result, I am going to start posting over there more, and continue to simply lurk my friends page here. Supposedly it is pretty easy to upload your LJ archives into wordpress, but I don't really know that I want all this come with me. Also, as part of a massive project I've got going on in my head, I've started downloading a lot of source images (which will hopefully help in my pitiful attempts at learning to draw). I've been posting some of my favorites over at thegoodship.tumblr.com simply because uploading pictures there is a fucking breeze. I think that's all I've got for now.

GAH.
I'm copying and pasting this to my own website because I truly don't think Mr. Ted Rall deserves the traffic on his website. Article is under the cut. I feel like this is the ultimate realization of Godwin's Law.

So, I was just randomly on Blackboard trying to dig up something I thought I remembered had been posted on one of my old classes when I noticed the "Featured Student" on the sign in page. TRIPLE MAJOR IN CHEMISTRY, BIOCHEMISTRY, AND ITALIAN. WTF.

I've started drawing my 8s differently. Weird? I've moved from the two separate circles/snowman style to the one swoosh/infinity style. Kind of figured that was one of those things that would never change. Hmph.

Yesterday we all woke up around 9, 930 got moving and finally got on the highway around 11. By 3 o'clock we were cruising through Titusville looking for some where to eat lunch as well as scoping out locations to sit and watch the launch later. After a quick and delicious lunch at place called Rounders and a drive around The Zombie Mall we finally parked and climbed on top of our cars to wait for 7:43.46 EST.

Tim, Bianca, Alan, Emily, and Lucy all showed up to join us for this, and I'm glad they were there to share it because the launch was absolutely beautiful and amazing. Right as the sun set behind us we watched the smoke billow out around the launchpad and then that just unbelievable long and bright flare of the engines seemed to literally reach up in to the sky. As it ascended a brief patch of the exhaust caught the last rays of the sun which had already dipped past the horizon to us. This cast an orange swath over a small bit of the trail and seemed to make the experience really unique. After watching the boosters break away and plummet like falling stars we watched the shuttle dwindle into the great cosmic distance and we were satisfied.

Of course MY camera died right as I tried to take the first picture, but three other people got some excellent shots so I will definitely throw a few of those up on here when I get a hold of them.

The launch ended up getting pushed back to Sunday evening. We're still tentatively planning on driving down, but we probably won't make a decision till Sunday morning. Also, it's supposed to rain across most of Florida on Sunday, so we'll see what happens.

In other news:

If time moves any slower this afternoon I'm going to throw down with either Father Time or Einstein.
